A Little About Me
Hey friends! I’m Keri, the younger sister of this blogging duo. I’m a lover of Christ and receiver of His unending grace. I love all things book related and might have an addiction to white cheddar popcorn and Dr. Pepper.
I was married in August of 2016 (yay!) and get to spend my life serving Christ with an amazing man. I never could have imagined that I would get to spend my life with someone as kind, generous and full of grace as Josh is. Frankly, I just don’t deserve it. He is my voice of reason, my shoulder to cry on, my partner in crime, my leader, and my best friend. He is constantly encouraging me and helping me grow. I cannot imagine where I would be without this man leading me along the way. Somehow God chose me to be his wife and I cannot be more ecstatic! I just feel so blessed to have him! I mean, come on, just look at that guy… Isn’t God GOOD?!
So, why blogging?
I have always loved reading. Growing up, if I wasn’t outside playing in the California sunshine, I was in a quiet spot somewhere with my nose in a book. I began to love writing in third grade (shout out to Ms. White at Ethan Allen Elementary for making me write short stories!). But I never really thought I had much to say. So I stuck to class assignments and journaling (yea dude, I’m THAT chick).
Since then I’ve lived a little. I’ve gone through some things and have learned to turn to Christ instead of the things of this world. I’ve changed my focus and priorities from me and my life to Him and His ministry. I’ve opened my heart to the things Christ has been leading me towards.
Once my focus changed from my plan to His, God began to soften my heart to women’s ministry. And can I just be honest with you here? I wanted no part in it. None. But God’s will always wins, doesn’t it! So, I began to pray about how He wanted me to be involved in ministry for women.
Fast forward to early fall 2015: I had this strong urge to start writing again. To share the Gospel and my story. To share trials and triumphs. To share with other women that Christ can conquer all.
So, I wrote. I wrote a post called Single Bride and sat on it for MONTHS! I was so scared of what others would say! Putting your words out there for the world to see is NOT easy y’all, especially when it’s something you’re so passionate about! I finally decided I would post it. I asked my sis to give me her honest opinion (because as you’ll quickly learn, we aren’t afraid of the truth).
Guess what? She loved it! (Whew, let me just breathe a sigh of relief). Not only did she love it, she shared with me that writing and women’s ministry had been on her heart as well! It’s so awesome how God stirred in us separately the desire to create a community of women through writing! What an amazing moment when we both opened up to each other about what God had been placing on our hearts.
After much praying, thinking, talking, praying, brainstorming and MORE praying we decided to just leap. So we came together. Two sisters in two different stages of life, but with the same passion: to create a safe place for women to open up and grow in Christ. To DO life together. To encourage each other and pray with one another. And so the creation of the Little Light on a Hill community.
I am so excited to share this journey with quite possibly the best sister ever, Krystal! She is my original partner in crime. My laughing buddy. My ear to vent to. My older (but littler) sister. She is an incredible example of what a Godly wife and mother looks like. I can’t wait for you guys to learn from her like I do! (Cue warm fuzzies!)
What’s in it for you?
Whether you are a Christian or not my prayer is that you find comfort and peace here. My hope is that this blog can become a source of encouragement for women in all stages of life. A place to not be afraid to ask the hard questions. My hope is for women of all ages and backgrounds to come together as a community as we strive to live for Him and love like Him.
I hope you stick around and grow with us through this process! I hope you find the encouragement here that we have found in starting this community. And don’t be shy! A community walks through life together. I so wish I could hug each of you around the neck and share a cup of tea or coffee with you. I wish we could sit and talk for hours about our passions and pet peeves. Unfortunately, some of us won’t be able to meet but that doesn’t mean we can’t get to know each other right here!
So share with us the things you’ve learned from Christ, things you’re struggling with, things you need prayer for. Share with us your moments of rejoicing! We would seriously love to hear from you!
Let’s lean on each other as sisters in Christ as we navigate through this crazy world!
